摘要：在近代前期,先进的中国人在探索现代化的道路上,经过了器物层面、制度层面、观念层面三个依次递进的变革程式,其道路的探索基本上是向西方学习的过程。虽然未能及身而成,但却推动了中国现代化进程,为后继者开拓了道路。
In the early period of the modern times in China, the forerunners, in exploring a modernization path, went through three stages of mental change： material, system, and ideology. Their efforts was in fact a process of learning from the West, which, although unsuccessful in the sense of achieving the modernization drive, did pave the way for the process.
