Objective Establishing a finite element model of multi-stage lumbar vertebra will provide platform for further biological mechanics research. Methods L3~L5 stages of a normal male volunteer were selected as study objects;through the CT scanning, digitized image analysis and ADINA software processing,a finite element model of the lumbar spinal motion segment was established and was verified by simulating the mechanical action. Results A normal Chinese male L3~L5 lumbar spinal motion segment finite element model was established with a total of 16532 summary points, including 12130 solid units,208 truss units, and 16 planar units. Conclusion It has provided one easy and accurate method for the establishment of normal lumbar spinal motion segments.By analyzing and studying the model,it is possible to study the biological mechanics performance under each condition.
