Autism spectrum disorder(ASD)in children is a heterogeneous, pervasive neuro developmental disorder characterized by impairments in communication, social behavior, interests, and activities.Oxidative stress(OS),as a hot topic of discussion for many years, has been widely concerned by scholars.A number of studies have shown that OS is closely associated with ASD,and it can participate in physiological and pathological process of ASD through a variety of ways including metabolites. This study elaborated the accumulation of oxidative damage products and the disorder of antioxidant metabolism in children with ASD,from the perspectives of OS markers of MDA,F2-isoprolandin,HEL,protein carbonyl,IDT and 8-OHdG,as well as from the relationship between TCM treatment for ASD and OS.TCM therapies have significant therapeutic effects in treating ASD,for example, acupuncture can regulate OS,but the specific mechanism remains unclear.Researches on molecular biology and body biochemistry should be taken as the entry points for later studies in mechanism.
