Postmenopausal osteoporosis(PMOP)is a systemic metabolic bone disease that result in decreased bone mass and destruction of bone microarchitecture due to decreased levels of oestrogen after menopause.Recent studies have found that bile acids(BAs),which are synthesised in the liver and modified by the gut microbiota, and then enter the bloodstream to participate in the metabolism of various organs of the body, are essential for remodelling bone homeostasis. This paper provides a review on the study of BAs regulating bone formation and bone resorption and participating in the progression of postmenopausal osteoporosis disease and the related study of improving PMOP by pharmacological intervention in this pathway.Focusing on the bile acid metabolic pathway,it reveals the pathological mechanisms and intervention pathways of PMOP,with a view to providing new ideas and targets for the treatment of PMOP.
