摘要：苔丝是十九世纪末英国批判现实主义作家托马斯·哈代的代表作《德伯家的苔丝》中的主人公。她被刻画成一个善良、坚强、自尊、宽容、美丽的女性形象。然而,所有的这些并不能改变苔丝的悲惨命运,她的生命慢慢地、确确实实地被那些自称爱她的人所毁灭。这是怎样的爱,何以毁掉苔丝的生命?苔丝的悲惨故事又能对现代人们带来怎样的启发和反思?
Tess is the main figure in Tess of the d'Urbervilles, the masterpiece written by Tomas Hardy, a writer of British critical realism at the end of 19 th century. She is portrayed as a kind, strong, self-esteem, generous and fine girl. However, all these couldn't change her tragic destination. Her life was slowly and really ruined by love announced by the people who had made it clearly publicly. What is the love? And how can it destroy Tess' s life completely? What messages do modern people can draw from Tess' s story?What can cause modern women to rethink about Tess' s story?
