According to modern medical research, ghrelin and obestatin,as gastrointestinal hormones, have been involved in the pathogenesis of COPD by influencing the nutritional status of the organism.Using medicine to regulate ghrelin-obestatin system can benefit the treatment of the disease by improving the nutritional status of patients with COPD.It coincides with the TCM“reforcing earth to generate metal”theory by transfering of Zhongzhou, enriching the nurture to nourish the lung.Ghrelin-obestatin system,as a common point of the blend of Chinese and Western medicine theory,is to explore its role in the regulation of COPD with malnutrition and the relationship of TCM“reforcing earth to generate metal”theory, which has implications for scientific interpretation of TCM in the treatment of this disease.
