摘要:Ligusticum chuanxiong (LC) a prominent herb in traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), is revered for its therapeutic properties. Notably, the LC cultivated in Gansu Province is referred to as xixiong (LX). LC and LX exhibit discernible disparities in appearance, profoundly influencing the quality and development of LX. In this investigation, we determined the appearance traits, compared the odor and volatile organic compounds in LC and LX by electronic nose and headspace solid-phase microextraction-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (HS-SPME-GC-MS), and determine the chemical constituents and establish the fingerprint by high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC), and Pearson correlation analysis was performed to correlate the "altitude-appearance-odor-chemical composition". Our findings unveiled conspicuous discrepancies in appearance, odor and chemical composition between LC and LX. Intriguingly, the chemical components olefins, esters, SA are positively correlated with altitude, and negatively correlated with W5C, W3C, W2S, color value, diameter, and quality. Phthalides, ketones, alkanes are positively correlated with colorimetric values, W5C, W3C, W2S, diameter, and negatively correlated with altitude. This seminal study not only sheds light on the nuances differentiating LC and LX but also furnishes invaluable insights into propelling the Gansu LX industry forward, thereby charting new avenues for advancing the domain of TCM. ? 2024, The Authors.
