摘要:This study aimed to investigate the effects of a health education intervention based on the Behaviour Change Wheel (BCW) theory and Teach-Back method on the self-management of older adults empty nesters with comorbid hypertension and type 2 diabetes mellitus (HTN-T2DM). 76 patients were divided into two groups: the text group received health education based on the BCW theory and Teach-Back method, and the control group received general health education. After the intervention, statistically significant differences were found between the two groups in fasting blood glucose levels and diabetes self-management scores at time points, intergroups, and time-group interactions. The text group had better blood pressure levels and hypertension self-management scores than the control group. Our findings suggested that an educational approach based on the BCW Theory and Teach-Back method proved more effective than a general health education program in improving the self-management skills of older adult empty nesters with comorbid HTN-T2DM.
